Lassana staying at Pompey

Lassana Diarra

French midfielder Lassana Diarra, who is currently training with the national squad for the coming European Championships, has caught interest from several European clubs after his impressing displays for his club. In his career until now, Diarra played for Chelsea and Arsenal, and only joined Pompey last January.

He was one of the factors that helped Portsmouth clinch the FA Cup 2007/08. Also, he is expected to be as much beneficial for his nation as he is for his club. He was chosen by Domenech in the 23-man squad for Euro 2008, after the 30 man provisional squad was trimmed. Diarra is, however, insistent that he will not be moving clubs this summer and that he is very happy at Portsmouth.

“I am fine at Portsmouth, where I have won the cup”

“I am very happy there. At Portsmouth, I have learnt a lot of things, and I am one of the key players.”

“I joined them to play a lot of matches. And I have found what I wanted.” – Lassana Diarra

had we not signed sissoko i think he would have been a good player for Juve….but sissoko has been awesome so we’re covered now

well from serie b we finished third in serie a and qualified for the champions league… look at what sissoko got from coming to juve from liverpool..i’d certainly think that if we had a bid accepted for diarra he’d come running with all his power….if you’d ask sissoko if he did a mistake joining last year’s serie b winners i think he’d be more satisfied with what juve achieved this season than with what liverpool got! well at least pompy got the fa cup on the other hand….

well playing in the english league is much more prestigious thn playing in a league that has not yet come out of such a flop as the calciopoli scandal :P and juve were in the centre of tht. i would bet portsmouth have the ability to beat juventus. well u can never say, maybe you will meet in uefa cup by finishing third in the group stage. goodluck for that lofl

grr some anti-italian football fans always make such comments. yet i don’t need to respond to such comments as actions speak alone.. italy beat off the challenge off all others with Italian footballers in the last world cup… england did not make it even for the euros .. and as regards to club level what can i say…milan and inter never mind of them roma got unlucky against a tough united side….
today we signed amauri…we are building up the same juve squad which gary neville was so loving of :p… just see him showinng his fear of juve here –> http://juventus.footballblog.co.uk/gary-neville.html
and that juve team will be back next season…
